Background Idea

The currents of social change in society that take place so quickly and are accompanied by trends in the development of a global society that cover all social and state activities, have indicated that the availability of quality human resources and at the same time have the ability to respond to these various challenges is absolutely necessary. One of the needs that is felt very urgent to be fulfilled and must be done immediately is the availability of quality human resources (HR) who have sufficient competence and capability with a legal scientific education background.

The foregoing is very reasonable to do considering the increasingly complex and varied various legal issues that arise in the community, including the derivation of deviant legal acts or acts committed by members of the community. To respond to the changes that occur, the Faculty of Law, Hasanuddin University should formulate a strategic plan (renstra) with the aim of directing and coordinating the work of the units under the law faculty in order to carry out the law faculty work program that is adapted to the vision, mission , and the objectives of the Faculty of Law, Hasanuddin University.

The Strategic Plan (Renstra) is a reference or guide regarding the ideal conditions of an organization that will be achieved together within a time limit and with a certain strategy, along with indicators of successful implementation. In determining these strategies and indicators of success, of course, the Faculty of Law, Hasanuddin University, refers and pays close attention to the Long-Term Development Plan (RPJP) for 2005-2025, the Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJM) for 2010-2014, and the Strategic Plan for National Education (2010-2014). ), and the Hasanuddin University Strategic Plan (2015-2020).

The Strategic Plan of the Faculty of Law, Hasanuddin University for 2016-2020 is entitled "Developing Law Faculty through Resources Based Improvement". This Strategic Plan was prepared as an effort to ensure the direction of development and transformation of the Faculty of Law, Hasanuddin University, which is in line with the stages of development of Hasanuddin University towards World Class University in 2010-2020.

In addition, this formulated strategic plan will be used as the main reference or guideline for work units at the Faculty of Law, Hasanuddin University to prepare a work program for its implementation and implementation for the next 5 (five) years, so that the formulation of the strategic plan that has been produced can also become a tool or instrument for monitoring and evaluation in carrying out operational activities of study programs within the Faculty of Law, Hasanuddin University.

Legal Foundation

The Strategic Plan of the Faculty of Law Unhas 2016 – 2020 was prepared referring to the following laws and regulations:

  1. Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System
  2. Law Number 12 of 2012 concerning Higher Education
  3. Government Regulation Number 4 of 2014 concerning the Implementation of Higher Education and Management of Higher Education
  4. Government Regulation Number 82 of 2014 concerning Unhas as a PTN-BH
  5. Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture Number 49 of 2014 concerning National Standards for Higher Education
  6. Ministry of National Education No. 192/O/2003 concerning the Statute of Unhas

Vision

Through a Workshop held in Malino (South Sulawesi) on 18-20 December 2015, the Faculty of Law, Hasanuddin University (Unhas) has established the following Vision:

“Reliable, Innovative, Quality-Cultivated Center for Human Development and Legal Studies, Based on the Indonesian Maritime Continent”

The vision of the Faculty of Law of Hasanuddin University is a substantive derivation of the Vision of Hasanuddin University, namely: Center of Excellence in Human Development, Science, Technology, Arts and Culture Based on the Indonesian Maritime Continent.

The vision is very realistic and specific, apart from being able to be realized within the stipulated timeframe, of course, not only in terms of producing quality law graduates, but also being very professional, humanistic, having high competitiveness and having noble character.

Mission

The mission of the Faculty of Law, Hasanuddin University is as follows.

  1. Develop innovative legal knowledge and skills based on the Maritime Continent.
  2. Develop a learning model in the formation of reliable character of law students.
  3. Provide a conducive and quality learning environment.
  4. Disseminate legal knowledge for the benefit and problem solving in society.

Goal

The Faculty of Law, Hasanuddin University has several goals to be achieved, namely:

  1. It produces graduates with noble character who master the concepts, principles, and basic rules of law as the basis for mastering scientific competencies.
  2. It produces graduates who have the ability to apply legal concepts, principles, and rules to solve legal problems.
  3. It produces graduates who have the ability to apply and develop reliable and innovative legal knowledge.
  4. The realization of the application and dissemination of legal knowledge for the benefit of society based on Indonesian maritime values.

The objectives of the Hasanuddin University Faculty of Law cannot be separated from the big frame of the Hasanuddin University goals, namely:

  1. The improvement of the Unhas learning system with international standards by using the Student Centered Learning (SCL) method.
  2. The implementation of international quality research.
  3. The realization of the university's social responsibility commitment (USR).
  4. The establishment of an effective and efficient organization and management to achieve the goals of Tridharma.

Values

In order to realize the above objectives, it is necessary to understand that the Faculty of Law, Hasanuddin University adheres to a value system that guarantees the freedom of self-development that is adaptive-creative to all of its insights, the usefulness of its role and the sharing of its existence. The value system is the pillars of the process as well as a commitment to the development orientation with a quality culture in all forms of movement towards progress that can motivate every individual or group to always strive for improvement and perfection in carrying out the mission.

The values of the Hasanuddin University Faculty of Law Study Program are derived from the deepest meaning of maritime values based on the Indonesian Maritime Continent, namely:

  1. Integrity; representing honest (lempu), brave (warani), responsible, and firm in their stance (getteng).
  2. Innovative; is a combination of intelligence (macca) creative, quality-oriented, independent, and pioneering.
  3. catalytic; represents courage, determination, dedication, and competitiveness.
  4. Arif; the manifestation of mutual respect (sipakatau), reminding each other (sipakinge) and glorifying each other (sipakalebbi).

In an effort to implement the mission of education/learning requires a number of quality cultural attitudes which include:

  1. Holistic insight in looking at every problem
  2. Prioritizing accuracy, namely always being compliant with principles, critically examining, and being persistent and tenacious, which is very much in line with maritime values.
  3. Giving the main award to honesty, which is systematic, objective and responsible.
  4. Uphold the four dimensions of human excellence, namely truth, goodness, beauty, and wholeness.

Goals and Achieving Strategies

The Faculty of Law, Hasanuddin University has the following objectives:

  1. The achievement of qualified, reliable, and innovative graduates by prioritizing the values of the Indonesian Maritime Continent.
  2. The development of an academic atmosphere through improving the performance of human resources in carrying out the duties of the Tridharma of Higher Education.
  3. Increased Good Organizational Governance in the face of global developments.
  4. Optimizing existing facilities and infrastructure in order to increase the academic ability of Human Resources to produce quality, reliable, and innovative graduates.
  5. The creation of management of funding sources with an effective management system in order to increase sustainable productivity.
  6. The establishment of a strong leadership commitment in implementing regulations that can lead to the achievement of the Faculty's vision and mission.
  7. The establishment of good Organizational Governance.

Faculty of Law of Hasanuddin University provides courses that dedicate to promote peace and justice for Sustainable Development Goals. We also fully support inclusivity and accountability at our institution to advocate the principles of the SDGs.
